Apple could, after all, do not make an iTV

For the CEO of one of the largest cable operators in the world, Apple is not working on developing a TV but rather seeks to enrich the range of content available with the Apple TV.

"I think Apple is trying to make a TV." The purpose runs counter to many rumors and indiscretions . We could sweep of hand if it was out of the mouth of Mike Fries, CEO of Liberty Global, one of the largest cable operators in the world. The company in fourteen countries, and has 25 million subscribers, is part of the players that matter in the world of television. Mike Fries has had the opportunity to meet Tim Cook, Apple's CEO during the lecture Sun Valley, in which the CEOs of many industries meet informally to discuss their project and synergies that could emerge.

Enrich the existing supply

For Mike Fries, Apple is in talks with U.S. cable players, large content providers, to review the interfaces offers Pay TV and related services. The objective of Tim Cook and Eddy Cue, senior vice president for Internet software and services, in charge of all major negotiations on the contained (music, cinema, electronic library, etc..), Would give access all these services via the Apple TV . The small box which is connected at present the only Apple's attempt to approach the world of television.

What track? A follow

Thus, rather than building a hit an apple device, Apple would build rather on the integration of new services to its Apple TV. A track that seems to support agreements with Disney and HBO in recent months for his little "set top box". The Cupertino therefore extend the path it has already started digging: the adoption of a kind of third way between a dedicated TV and Google's approach with its Google TV.
However, one can also think that Apple is negotiating contracts with content sources for its Apple TV could also be extended to a connected TV ... While content sales, according to Apple's model is worth usually for very large volumes. However, to achieve, it is essential that devices used to access it are sufficiently numerous and accessible. This would not necessarily be the case of a high-end TV ...
