While Apple has just unveiled two new smartphones , the iPhone and 5c 5s, one eagerly awaiting the first rumors about the next generation. A few days after the keynote, the Cupertino company filed a patent for a virtually unbreakable screen made of sapphire.
And if the screen of our smartphone was finally unbreakable? Really unbreakable? With this recently filed patent Apple could come close. The idea is as follows: grip the glass screen between two very thin layers of sapphire, so make an unbreakable lamination.
Only problem, the sapphire is an ultra-durable gemstone, almost as much as the diamond. Send to shape the material to produce, at an acceptable cost, such parts is the technical prowess. Feat that could very well make Apple the scanner for fingerprint Touch ID is itself made of sapphire.
