As seen on Gizmodo , the solution to this problem might not be as simple as a mere update of iOS. While not yet know where the problem lies, may be a software issue, if the cause of these are technical matters concerning the hardware of the device could be disastrous for Apple, as it would require stopping production and redesign some of the components internal.
Not to be alarmist, so the best we can do is wait patiently for an official statement by Apple.
