The passage of the iPad to a 64-bit processor will accelerate the fall in PC sales

Full of rather vague but certainly not gone unnoticed promises, the passage of iOS devices to 64 bits could have serious consequences for the PC, according to some analysts.
If Apple follows the same process of updating the iPad with its five seniors, the new generation of tablet should carry a more powerful processor, called Apple A7 or A7x. In all cases, it will in all likelihood 64 bits.

Gimmick or evolution of promise

Technological change that Apple was the first to adopt for mobile platforms. Samsung has once said that his next Galaxy S will also be 64-bit. Others were more cautious not seeing the relevance and contribution of such a technological leap. This was notably the case of representatives from Qualcomm, which indicated last week that the move to 64-bit was a"marketing gimmick" and had no meaning other than servers and powerful PC. This is mostly true from a technical point of view since the 64-bit allows especially to address more memory (more than 4GB), where the iPhone 5s will sail a gigabyte.
As far Qualcomm has since returned to this position, indicating work on chips such as "mobile hardware and software ecosystem change already in the direction of 64-bit and that this evolution brings the potential of PC offices and the experience that goes with mobile. "
The iPad 5 will be there 64-bit? If so, the PC could suffer.

Changing a heavy consequences

A proven power - literally - representatives of the post-PC that has not gone unnoticed by some analysts. And an expert from Deutsche Bank recently stated in a note to investors: "We expect that the growing virtualization [desktop PCs] and iPad deployments in companies submit sales professional PC to a high pressure between 2014 and 2015 ... We expect [Apple]introduce the iPad integrates a 64-bit architecture, which will allow the development of a greater number of business applications and facilitate even greater penetration in companies over of time. "
As a result, Deutsche Bank Equity Research has further lowered its sales forecast for PC.Initially, she says, the volumes of PCs sold to fall by 8% in 2013 and 6% in 2014. Now there are two more points that should be added to this decline, 10 and 8% for the same respective periods.

Apple is expected to announce a new generation of iPad and iPad mini at an event that the latest rumors to fix dated October 22 .
